First phase: Baja’s Innovation and Technology Center

September 21st was inaugurated the first phase of the Business Innovation and Technology Center in Tijuana, known as BIT Center.
The main purpose of this new center is to provide the infrastructure for incubating and developing software and information technology with the help of the local talent, available for investors that are establishing new manufacturing operations at San Diego-Tijuana Border.
This project was possible due to the contribution of the federal, state and municipal government incentives, with the support of CONACYT (Mexico’s Science and Technology Council), as well as private sector: multinational companies with manufacturing operations in Tijuana such as Greatbach, Siliken, Honeywell, Delphi, Foxconn, etc .
The BIT project was thinking for facilitating access to resources available for companies that are developing new technology, improving their manufacturing processes or developing new materials, coming in hand to different Tijuana Manufacturing projects.
In its first phase opened two out of five buildings dedicated to provide engineering, lab testing and design services for manufacturing and technology companies, with the involvement of two of the most important promotions organism from the city: Tijuana EDC and CANIETI. The cost of innovation using the local engineering talent at BIT facilities are estimated to be very attractive, making this region more competitive.
Baja California State Governor Jose Guadalupe Osuna, personally delivered to30 IT & Software development companies as well academic institutions the keys of their offices at the new Bit Center.
The idea of this new BIT Center is to provide technological services to industry and local companies in the following areas: metrology, process automation, mechatronics, PLC´s, energy efficiency, and advanced materials research, etc.
